Our bodies are a different kind of machine. They are bio-chemical machines that break down fats, proteins, and carbohydrates to use a fuel in order to run. In order for a muscle to move, our brains send electrical impulses through neural networks much similar to the way a computer may signal a machine to start or stop. What if we could tap into that and manipulate our bodies to do certain function better? We can and it’s called biohacking.
If you want your car to run better, you work on it. You do maintenance on it. You do things to it to customize it and try to make it look and run the way you want it to. You may want better acceleration. So, you do things to make it better at acceleration. Biohackers think on this level. They attempt to tap into systems within their own bodies to make it better at selected functions.
What is Biohacking?
Biohacking is a new term for a new way of achieving a goal that has been around since humans have begun to explore our own bodies. That is to make them better. However, biohacking is different in the aspect that it is a way of applying the hacker’s ethic code in order to make the body better. The term “better” here means to function in a way that gives better results according to the owner of the body.
The hacker’s code of ethics is simple to understand. Learn how things work. Take things apart in a way that helps you to understand it. Then, learn how to make it better. That ethic is being applied to the human body.
Technology is used to hack your body. For example, you can change your brain waves by applying different frequencies into your ear. There are four different brain waves. The first is beta and it operates between 14-30Hz. That is when we are awake and working. The second is Alpha. It operates between 8-14Hz. This is when we are in a meditative state. The third is theta operating between 4-8Hz.We are light dreaming. The last is delta and it operates 0.1-4 Hz. Here, we are in a dreamless, profound sleep stage.
You can hack your own body by listening to the frequencies to help you get into the state you want to be in. If you want to be able to recall memories better, try a meditative state. Listen to alpha waves and it will help you become relaxed and recall memories better. If you want to sleep, try listening to theta or delta waves.
There are those who take biohacking to another level. Take Tim Cannon, who inserted a chip into his body that actually records his biometric data. Doing this, he hopes the data will allow him to learn more about how his body functions and what he can do to make it better.
In short, biohacking is a way of applying science and technology to your body. By doing this, we can get a better result out of our bodies.
